The Joyful Hour, Father Peyton's 1950 Christmas television program, stars Ruth Hussey as Mary and Nelson Leigh as Joseph and recounts the Christmas story through the three Joyful Mysteries - The Annunciation, The Visitation and The Birth of Our Lord. Celebrity Pat O'Brien and his family lead the Rosary prayer. It also features Raymond Burr as Verrus, a Roman soldier. Father Peyton offers a holiday reflection on the Holy Family during the last 2 minutes of the program. The Joyful Hour aired on 92 stations across the country when it debuted in 1950.
